ADNIC Kicks-off the Year of Zayed with a Partnership with the UAE Genetic Diseases Association Research Centre

25 Jan 2018

Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC), today announced its support for the UAE Genetic Diseases Association (UAEGDA), a non-profit organisation that aims to reduce the prevalence and impact of common genetic disorders in the UAE and support the national agenda of healthcare.

The Sheikh Zayed Research Centre, under UAEGDA is a fully licensed genetic laboratory supporting screening and research efforts for the six most common genetic disorders in the Arab world.

The MOU was signed by H.E. Dr Maryam Matar, Chairperson of UAEGDA, and Mr. Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Executive Vice President - Shared Services at ADNIC, and will consist of a series of activities that aim to support the Dubai-based Centre in its mission. As part of phase one, ADNIC is providing the UAEGDA Research Centre with some needed cutting-edge genetic analysis equipment and instruments essential for diagnosis and analysis.

The UAE is focusing its efforts on building awareness about genetic diseases. Early screening for genetic conditions can help provide a treatment plan as well as provide children with a stimulating and supportive environment. With the analytical research UAEGDA provides, the Association has made huge strides in impacting people’s lives positively.

Mr. Abdulla Al Nuaimi commenting on the partnership, “We believe businesses have a responsibility to serve their communities, and the team at ADNIC is proud to be embracing the year of Giving and partnering with UAEGDA which does such vital work. Our core business as an insurer is in the protection of people, and this initiative will assist in providing people with understanding of their genetic make-up.”

H.E. Dr Maryam Matar, Chairperson of UAEGDA said, “The Sheikh Zayed Research Centre is dedicated to the legacy of Sheikh Zayed, founding father of our nation since 2004. As we all know, the year 2018 is marked as “Year of Zayed”. We are renewing our commitment to the cause of genetic research and prevention to improve quality of life for the people in UAE in 2018 and this makes support of ADNIC even more valuable as it helps us to enhance the capacity and capabilities of our centre.
