16 Jul 2015

July 15, 2015 - Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC), one of the region’s leading insurance companies, today announced the re-launch of its Health Education Awareness Program (HEAP). HEAP is an educational initiative designed for ADNIC customers, as well as members insured under ADNIC’s Health Plans, to raise awareness about health issues and to equip them with preventive strategies and tools for protecting themselves.

HEAP focuses on a number of chronic conditions, including: rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, cardiovascular-related ailments and diabetes. As a part of this initiative, the ADNIC HEAP team will be organizing a series of educational symposiums led by expert healthcare professionals on prevention and management of these chronic ailments. In addition, the Company is providing free screenings for those who attend these events. In 2014, ADNIC delivered a total of 20 events over four campaigns as part of HEAP, which saw strong demand from the ADNIC insured members and their families and has been expanded in 2015.

Commenting on the HEAP initiative, Mr. Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Chief Officer - Human Resources & Corporate Affairs at ADNIC, said: “The HEAP initiative reflects ADNIC’s commitment to the UAE community and is an important part of enhancing health awareness in the country. In 2014, HEAP helped to increase people’s understanding of various chronic conditions and the choices they have to prevent and manage them. We shall further build upon this positive momentum in 2015.”

Dr. Wassim Alzayed, Manager of Pharmacy Benefits and HEAP at ADNIC, added: “The HEAP campaign plays a vital role in providing education to ADNIC members to ensure they are informed about their personal health and have the information to protect themselves. The program has met with an overwhelmingly positive response from our members and this year we hope grow it to reach a greater number of individuals.”

Throughout June and July, as part of HEAP, ADNIC has been conducting a series of events under the title “Healthy Habits and Diabetes in Ramadan” in which attendees have received advice on healthy diet combinations and exercises to follow during the month of Ramadan. The events have featured live cooking stations, talks by dieticians and occupational therapists, as well as on-site body mass index evaluations.
